The Magnolia Doulas wanted to make a classy presentation on their website while tipping their hats to the bucolic landscape in which they serve. I had a 100 year old art education book my grandfather had given me, and there was one illustration that had the feel that worked perfectly for the birth services page. The Magnolia Doulas selected flowers to represent their different packages, and so I poured through library books to find good examples of the flowers to reproduce. The theme was “vintage botanical journals,” and so I added textures, coloring,  latin flower names, and descriptions to contribute to the feel, which you can see excerpted below.


  • Coordinated with birth photographers to obtain photography that fit the vision and values of Magnolia Doulas
  • Concept and implement visual language of Magnolia Doulas: Logo, colors, photo editing
  • Made website wireframe, mockup, and final layout & design
  • Performed SEO strategy with long-tail search keywords
  • Provided training on how to add and edit site information
  • Hardened website to hacks, set up security scanning, and established off-site daily backups
  • Set up hosting on my VPS with solid state hard drives
