The first step with the SFDG was to figure out how their new website could best serve them. Their previous website had been in service for over a decade and generally needed updating. On it was a list of all their doulas with contact information, so our goal in upgrading their site was to spend our time showcasing each doula so that expectant parents could find the one that felt right for them.


  • Coordinated with local SF photographers to obtain photography that fit the vision and values of SFDG
  • Concept and implement visual language of SFDG: Logo, colors, photo editing
  • Made website wireframe, mockup, and final layout & design
  • Set up development site with forms to obtain material for each doula profile
  • Edited each doula profile picture to implement SFDG visual themes
  • Preserved existing SEO with 301 redirects
  • Performed SEO strategy with long-tail search keywords
  • Coordinated custom programming for new member profiles: when someone fills out a new member form on the website, then a new profile page is generated
  • Trained key SFDG members via skype how to manage member profiles
  • Created backend video tutorials
  • Hardened website to hacks, set up security scanning, and established off-site daily backups
  • Set up hosting on my VPS with solid state hard drives
